Miniature Schnauzer

The Miniature Schnauzer is a dog that is of the Schnauzer breed that is small. IT originated in Germany in the 19th century. The dog was bred from a mix between the standard Schnauzer and a smaller breed like the poodle, Miniature Pinscher or an Affenpinscher.

This breed of is very unique in appearance. It is a very compact shaped dog with strong muscles and is square in its shape. The dogs have the distinctive trait of a beard, long eyebrows and feathered hair on the legs. The ears are sometimes made to stand up, and the tail is docked. The Miniature Schnauzer also can have ears that are left to flop, it is all depending on where the dog lives. Some practices are acceptable in different parts of the world and unacceptable in other parts of the world.

The coats of the Miniature Schnauzer that are wiry and they do not strip they are great as house pets for people with allergies because of this trait. The coats do need regular maintenance to keep this characteristic.There are three colors that are idea for the Miniature Schnauzer, black, grey and silver and a combination of all the colors in different variances There are rare colors of white and brown, but are not common or expected when breeding the Miniature Schnauzer. The height of the breed for both males and bitches is from 12 to 15 inches. The weight for both the males and the bitches is from 10 to 15 pounds. Again these standards are depending on where the schnauzer is located as in different countries different standards are set.

Miniature Schnauzers are very interesting in their personalities, and love to get into trouble as a sense of entertainment, and a sense of their crazy humor. They are also very loyal to their owner, and are very much into activities to burn off their energies. Although the average weight is 10 to 15 pounds for a normal healthy schnauzer it is often not the case, as they need lots of exercise, and without it will gain a lot of weight, and gain it quickly.

The Miniature Schnauzer is an excellent guard dog and does not enjoy new people, they are not aggressive, but not accepting until the owner is accepting of the person, and welcomes them into the home.
